Article Last Updated May 4, 2026

This article applies to:

Rise 360 makes it easy to customize quiz settings. Choose the number of times learners can retake a quiz, score required to pass, question randomization, answer shuffling, and more.

To get started, edit an existing quiz lesson or create a new one in a Rise 360 course, then click the Settings icon in the upper-right corner of the quiz editor. Keep reading to learn about the following quiz settings and how to adjust them:

Note:  Quiz settings apply only to the current quiz lesson. Click Close to return to the quiz editor.

General Settings

Quiz Retries

By default, learners can attempt a quiz an unlimited number of times. If you prefer to limit the number of attempts learners can make, use the drop-down list to select the number of retries available.

Include in Lesson Count

Quizzes are included in the course's total lesson count by default. Toggle Off this setting to exclude a quiz from the lesson count.

Continue Button Style

Select either the standard Next Lesson button or a Continue button to appear at the end of the quiz. The continue button uses the same theme color and label settings as other continue buttons in your course.

Timer

Toggle this setting On if you want learners to have a time limit for taking the quiz. Modify or keep the default Duration of 10 minutes; this is the total time learners have to complete all questions. You can also select whether to display remaining, elapsed, or elapsed/total time. Even if displayed, learners can hide the timer.

Results are automatically submitted at the end of the time limit, with any unanswered questions marked incorrect. The quiz timer resets after each attempt.

Scoring

Passing Score

Enter the percentage correct that learners must achieve to pass the quiz. The default is 80%.

Require Passing Score to Continue

Toggle this feature On to require learners to pass the quiz before moving on to the next lesson. When this setting is enabled, learners must achieve the passing score you defined (above) to advance to the next lesson in the course.

If learners fail the quiz, they must click the retry button on the results screen and pass it on a subsequent attempt to move on.

If you limit the number of times learners can retake the quiz and they fail all attempts, they won’t be able to advance to the next lesson or complete the course.

Skip Ahead If Passed

If the quiz is followed by at least one other quiz or lesson, you can enable the Skip Ahead setting to let learners jump ahead in the training if they pass the quiz. Select the lesson or quiz to jump to in the If Passed, Skip To menu.

All content between this quiz and the destination lesson is marked complete when skipped. Enabling this option automatically enables Restrict Navigation in Theme settings

Question Options

Randomize Question Order

Toggle On this option if you want learners to see quiz questions in a random order. If you’d prefer learners see quiz questions in the order you arranged them, leave it Off.

Shuffle Answer Choices

Toggle On this option to randomly shuffle the answer choices for each question. Leave it Off if the order of the answer choices matters or if you just don’t want them to shuffle.

Reveal Answers

Select Reveal All Answers to show the correct answer for each question after learners submit their responses. This option gives learners immediate feedback,  reinforcing what they learned. If you added feedback statements to any questions, learners will see those, too.

When you select Hide All Answers, learners won't see correct answers after submitting questions, nor will they see feedback statements that you added.

The Show Incorrect Answers with Feedback option lets learners see their incorrect answers and question feedback without revealing any correct answers.

Format Options

Correct/Incorrect Answer Color

Correct and incorrect answers display in theme colors by default. You can modify those colors here. Your selections apply only to the current quiz.
