Storyline 360: Managing AI-Generated Voiceovers and Sound Effects with AI Chat
Article Last Updated Oct 15, 2026
This article applies to:
Manage AI-generated voiceovers and sound effects across your entire Storyline 360 project from a single conversational workflow. Find and preview voices, replace those you can no longer use, and generate or regenerate voiceovers for multiple slides at once, rather than updating audio slide by slide. Also add sound effects by describing what you need, previewing the results, and inserting your favorite. Keep reading to learn how.
Find and Manage Voices
Ask AI to help you discover, preview, and organize the voices you use for AI-generated voiceovers. Here’s how:
- Open your project in Story or Slide View.
- Click the AI Assistant tab on the right side of the screen.
- Describe the voice you want in the chat box. For example, “Show me the voices I can use” or “What voices can I use that don't have an American accent?”
- Review the results, then preview any voice right in the chat.
AI searches the voices already available to you, including those saved to My Voices and those in the voice library. Refine your search with follow-up prompts, such as a different accent, tone, or style.
Add Voices from the Voice Library
AI can suggest voices from the voice library and automatically add them to My Voices so you can generate voiceovers.
- Select the slide text you want to create a voiceover for.
- Ask AI to “Suggest a voice for the selected text.”
- Preview the suggested voices in the chat.
- Use the suggested voice to generate a voiceover of the selected text.
Check for Unavailable Voices
Over time, a voice used in your project may no longer be available, for example, if it was deprecated or its creator removed it from the voice library. AI can find any voiceover in your project that uses one.
- Enter a prompt in the chat box, for example, “Do I have any deprecated voices in my project?” or “Do I have any audio using voices that I don't have access to?”
- Review the list of unavailable voices and the slides where they're used, if they exist.
Replace Unavailable Voices
After checking for unavailable voices, let AI recommend replacements, then choose the one that fits your content.
- Ask for suggestions, for example, “Suggest some replacements for Josh" or “Find replacement voices for each of the remaining deprecated voices.”
- Preview the suggested voice replacements in the chat.
- Use the bulk replacement steps below to regenerate the affected voiceovers with the new voice.
Review, Generate, and Replace Voiceovers in Bulk
AI can list the voiceovers in your project and then generate or replace them across multiple slides in a single request. You're always in control—review and confirm what AI plans to do before any changes happen.
Review Existing Voiceovers
- Ask AI to “List all voiceovers I have in this project.”
- Review the results. For each voiceover, AI shows the scene, slide number, slide title, and a preview you can play.
Replace Voiceovers in Bulk
Update existing voiceovers in bulk, for example, to switch to a different voice or model.
- Describe the change in the chat box. For example, “Regenerate all of them with the v4 model.”
- Review the list of voiceovers AI plans to regenerate.
- Click the Insert button in the response, or confirm in the chat to insert the voiceovers on your slides.
Generate Voiceovers from Slide Notes
Turn the notes you've already written into voiceovers for multiple slides.
- Enter a prompt in the chat box, such as “Generate a voiceover for each slide using the notes in slide 1.2. You can pick the voice.” To choose the voice yourself, name it in your prompt.
- Review the results. AI’s response includes the scene, slide number, slide title, and a preview of each voiceover.
- Click the Insert button in the response, or confirm in the chat to insert the voiceovers on your slides.
Generate Voiceovers from a Script
Paste text or a script into the chat and ask AI to generate a voiceover.
- Describe where the voiceovers go in the chat box and include your script. For example, “I have 10 slides in scene 4 that need TTS. Generate and insert one on each slide using this script,” followed by the script.
- Review the results. AI’s response includes the scene, slide number, slide title, and a preview of each voiceover.
- Click the Insert button in the response, or confirm in the chat to insert the voiceovers on your slides.
Realign Text Timing After Replacing Voiceovers
When you replace voiceovers, text animations or cue points synced to the previous audio may no longer line up. AI lets you know when this happens and offers to realign the text timing to match the new voiceovers. Accept the offer in the chat, or decline and adjust the timing yourself.
Pro tip: Name your slides and timeline objects clearly. Descriptive names help AI match scripts and audio to the correct slides.
Generate Sound Effects
Add a layer of realism to your project without leaving the chat. Describe the sound you need, preview the results, and insert your favorite into your slides. Here’s how:
- Describe the sound and specify where to add it in your project. For example, “Generate a sound effect of a door creaking open on slide 2.3” or “Add the sound of applause to the last slide in scene 4.”
- Review the results and preview each sound effect in the chat.
- Click the Insert button in the response, or confirm in the chat to add the sound effect to your slide.
AI automatically names each sound effect based on your description, making it easy to find in your project.
