Storyline 360: Modifying JavaScript Animation Triggers With AI
Article Last Updated Jun 9, 2026
This article applies to:
Manually updating JavaScript animation triggers in Storyline 360 isn’t difficult, but switching tabs or navigating dropdowns in the Trigger Wizard dialog can make it tedious. Luckily, the AI feature in Storyline 360 simplifies the process by letting you update these triggers with a quick chat. Keep reading to learn how it works.
Use Supported Trigger Events
Storyline 360’s built-in AI uses the “timeline starts” event when creating JavaScript animations in chat, unless you request a different trigger event.
The following table lists trigger event categories, along with sample events you can use in the chat.

Trigger Events Categories |

|
Mouse events |
When the “user clicks” |
|
Object events |
When the “state of” |

Modify JavaScript Animation Triggers
When working with a newly created JavaScript animation, you don’t need to switch to the triggers panel or click the Open Trigger icon (lightning bolt) to reconfigure it. Instead, request changes through a follow-up prompt. For example, ask the AI to change a “timeline starts” trigger event to “user presses” a key or “timeline reaches” a certain point.
For existing JavaScript animation triggers, reference the trigger name when asking the AI to update them. Here’s how:
-
Go to the triggers panel (Slide tab on the right).
-
Locate the trigger on the list.
-
Click the trigger name to enter edit mode, then copy it. Alternatively, double-click the trigger to open the Trigger Wizard dialog, then copy the trigger name.
-
Go to the AI Assistant tab, describe the change you want to make, and paste the trigger name.
Pro Tip: In addition to modifying JavaScript animation triggers through chat, you can ask the AI to use a specific trigger event when creating new JavaScript animations.
