Storyline 360: Understanding How PowerPoint Animations and Transitions Are Imported
Article Last Updated Mar 4, 2026
This article applies to:
When you import a PowerPoint presentation into Storyline 360, most animations and transitions are brought over. However, some may behave differently or not import if there isn’t a close Storyline 360 equivalent.
This article explains how PowerPoint animations and transitions are handled during import and what to expect.
How PowerPoint Animations Are Imported
Most entrance, exit, emphasis, and motion path animations import into Storyline 360.
Animations are matched to the closest available Storyline 360 equivalent. If an animation doesn’t have a close equivalent, it won’t import.
PowerPoint emphasis animations are supported as of the March 3, 2026 update.
How Slide and Layer Transitions Are Imported
Most PowerPoint slide and layer transitions import into Storyline 360.
If a transition doesn’t have a close equivalent in Storyline 360, it won’t import.
Click-Triggered Animations
Animations that start when a specific shape is clicked in PowerPoint will import as shape-click triggers in Storyline 360. However, animations set to start on click behave differently. These “next click” animations don’t create triggers in Storyline 360. Instead, they’re placed at the start of the timeline after import.
