Storyline 360: Only One Slide Is Added When Inserting Step-By-Step Screen Recordings
Article Last Updated Jan 16, 2026
This article applies to:
If only one slide gets created when you insert a step-by-step screen recording, it might mean Storyline 360 and the app you're recording have different permissions.
For example, let's say you're using Storyline 360 to record a process in Microsoft Excel. If Excel is configured to run as an administrator and Storyline 360 isn't—or vice versa—your screen recording might be incomplete.
Make sure both apps have the same permissions. Here's how to check your Storyline 360 permissions.
- Go to your Storyline 360 program folder. The location depends on your version of Windows. 32-bit Windows is
C:\Program Files\Articulate\360\Storylineand 64-bit Windows isC:\Program Files (x86)\Articulate\360\Storyline - Right-click
Storyline.exeand choose Properties. - Select the Compatibility tab.
- If the box is marked to Run this program as an administrator, make sure the same box is marked for the app you're recording. If it's unchecked, make sure it's also unchecked for the app you're recording.
Note: If you changed the default installation directory for Storyline 360, look for Articulate\360\Storyline in your custom install folder.
If the issue persists, reboot your computer to resolve the permissions conflict, and then try again. Let us know if you need help.
