AI Assistant in Rise 360: AI Course Drafts
Article Last Updated Feb 24, 2026
This article applies to:
Whether you’re starting with a quick idea or uploading extensive source material, AI Assistant's new AI course drafts workflow simplifies the creation of a polished first draft while keeping you in control. The result? Engaging, thoughtful content that’s ready to edit, enhance, and share.
To get started, go to your Rise 360 dashboard and click Create with AI. Then, read on to learn more about each of the four easy steps to generate course drafts.
Step 1: Gather Context
Start by providing AI Assistant with context about the course you want to create. In the text field provided, describe your course in as much detail as you want. The more context you provide, the better tailored the output will be to your needs.
If you have source material, click anywhere inside the gray area for Source materials (optional) or simply drag and drop files to upload. Check out this table for a list of supported file types and their size and character limits. You can also paste text or URLs into the text field.
AI Assistant analyzes the uploaded source material and then marks each uploaded item with a blue checkmark when it’s been successfully analyzed. Specify how to use a specific item by clicking the gear icon (Source material settings) on the right and adding special instructions. To remove an item, click the trash icon. When you’re ready for the next step, click the Generate course details button on the lower right.
Step 2: Configure Course Details
In this step, AI Assistant generates the target duration, course information, and learning objectives based on the context you provided in the previous step.
Target Duration
AI Assistant recommends a format and target duration—the time learners need to complete the course—based on the context and source materials you provided. The list below provides a time estimate for each format.
- Single Lesson - 1 lesson that takes less than 5 minutes
- Short Course - About 1-3 lessons that take less than 30 minutes
- Standard Course - About 4-8 lessons that take 1 to 2 hours
- Extended Course - About 10 or more lessons that take 3 hours or more
To understand the logic behind AI Assistant’s recommended format, click Reasoning right underneath. If you choose a format other than the recommended one, AI Assistant provides additional information to consider before you proceed.
Course Information
In this section, you can customize the following properties: topic, tone, audience, and goals. Click on each box to manually edit the content, or select any text to access a toolbar for AI help, undo, or redo.
To update all content at once, click Edit with AI next to the Course information heading at the top. If you have any specific instructions for the changes you'd like to make, enter them in the prompt box manually, and then click Try again.
Learning Objectives
Scroll down to view the learning objectives created by AI Assistant. Here, you can take any of the following actions:
- Rearrange learning objectives by dragging them up or down using the grab handle on the left side of the box.
- Manually edit a learning objective by clicking inside the box or selecting any text and using AI Assistant to modify it.
- Add a new learning objective by clicking + Add learning objective at the bottom.
- Delete a learning objective by clicking the trash icon on the right.
You can also click Edit with AI to the right of the Learning objectives heading at the top to make changes. Enter any specific instructions you have, then click the Try again button to create a new set of learning objectives.
To update the course information and learning objectives simultaneously, click the global Edit with AI button at the top of the page. Provide any specific instructions you have, and then click the Try again button.
If you find the generated content helpful, click the thumbs-up icon in the lower right. If not, click the thumbs-down icon and share your thoughts. Your feedback will go directly to our product and engineering teams.
If you’re collaborating with stakeholders or a subject matter expert to develop a course, you can export the course details as a PDF or Word document for their review or approval. Click Export in the upper right corner, then choose a file type to download. Once you’re all set, click the Generate course outline button to proceed to the next step.
Step 3: Review Course Outline
In this step, AI Assistant creates your course outline, including an overview, lesson titles, descriptions, key topics, and a relevant cover image. From the lesson sequence menu on the left, you can perform any of the following actions:
- Manage lesson order by dragging and dropping the sequence tiles.
- Jump to any lesson by clicking the corresponding tile.
- Add a new lesson by clicking + Add lesson at the bottom.
- Delete a lesson by clicking the trash icon, which displays in the upper right corner when you hover over a tile.
Similar to the previous step, you can also manually edit the content on this page. Click into a text field to start editing, or select any text and ask AI Assistant for writing help. You’ll also see options to Edit with AI on the right, which allow you to regenerate content for the course overview or lessons. Use the global Edit with AI button in the top right if you want AI Assistant to provide an entirely new course outline.
Export your course outline for stakeholder review or approval by clicking Export in the upper right corner and choosing a file type. Then, click the Course content options button in the lower right. A window will display asking whether you want to generate interactive blocks and text or text-only content for your lessons. If you choose to include interactive blocks, you’ll see a toggle option to generate images as well. (Note that adding images increases the time needed to generate your course draft.)
If you choose the text-only option, the toggle for AI-generated images turns off. Regardless of your choice, AI Assistant will generate a potential cover image for the course. When you’re ready, click the Draft Lessons in Rise button to start generating your course draft.
Step 4: Refine Course Draft
Depending on your previous choice, AI Assistant will generate a course draft with either a blend of interactive blocks and text or text only. For the interactive course draft, AI Assistant creates lessons using various interactive block types and text content. A text-only course draft includes simple text blocks that you can format later to your preference.
As soon as the first lesson is ready, you can jump in and start refining—you don’t have to wait for AI Assistant to finish generating all the lessons. If you want to cancel the process entirely, click the Cancel generation button in the status box at the bottom left, then select the Yes, delete and go back button to confirm. Please note that you will lose all lessons generated so far, including any edits you've made to them.
To review and make further edits to your content, click the Edit Content button next to the lesson title. Remember, AI Assistant is available anytime to help edit text, convert blocks, or generate images quickly—just look for the sparkle icon!

FAQs
Can I generate course drafts in languages other than English?
You can generate course drafts in any OpenAI-supported language, but we can’t guarantee accuracy. We recommend reviewing AI-generated translations with a language expert.
Does the content generated from AI course drafts contain any media, like images or audio?
The AI course drafts workflow creates either interactive blocks with text and images or text-only content. It cannot yet generate audio as part of the course draft.
How many images and what types of image blocks are generated by AI Assistant?
For each lesson, AI Assistant generates a banner image at the beginning using a Text on image block. Two to three additional images are created within the lesson using either the Image centered or Image full width block. Each additional image is followed by a paragraph that describes it.
How does AI Assistant decide which blocks to use when generating interactive content?
We follow best practices from the Rise Business Content library of internal “gold standard” courses, as well as input from e-learning content experts. We used these rules to train the model so it can select the best block type for each lesson and format it properly for Rise 360.
To keep the lesson flow smooth, AI Assistant generates one lesson and block at a time. This allows it to reference previous work, reducing repetition and improving block sequencing.
What happens to my AI course outline if I lose access to AI Assistant?
Your AI course outlines stay intact and visible even if you lose access to AI Assistant. However, you won’t be able to edit them.
Can I send a copy of my AI course outline to another user?
Yes, but you’ll need to export the generated content as a PDF or Word document to share with stakeholders or experts for review. Unlike regular content that you can send right from your Rise 360 dashboard, AI course outlines can only be deleted or moved to another folder.
