Frontline: Choosing Blocks for Your Artifact

Article Last Updated Oct 8, 2026

This article applies to:

Every artifact you build in Frontline, other than training decks, uses blocks—the individual content pieces you stack and customize—to shape the training experience. Quick references are built entirely from blocks, while guides, interactive videos, and scenarios use blocks to support specific parts, such as steps and checkpoints. Understanding each block's function helps select suitable blocks for your training needs.

Blocks come in different categories, from simple text and images to more advanced interactive blocks, surveys, and knowledge checks. Most categories include several types. For example, a text block can include a paragraph, a paragraph with a heading, a paragraph with a subheading, a heading, a subheading, a column, and a table.

Each artifact supports a different set of blocks. Use the tables below to see at a glance which can be used for different formats.
