Articulate 360 AI and Frontline: Importing Content from OneDrive
Article Last Updated Sep 10, 2026
This article applies to:
When you want to use a file from OneDrive as source content, downloading it just to upload it again is inefficient. But if you connect OneDrive to your Articulate 360 AI or Frontline account, you can bring those same files straight into your course or kit. Read on to learn more.
Connect OneDrive
Start by choosing where you’d like to initiate your OneDrive connection:
Dashboard
- Go to your Rise 360 or Frontline dashboard.
- Click the OneDrive tile or button.
- In Frontline, it’s located in the Drag or choose files area.
- In Rise 360, it’s at the bottom of the prompt box.
- Choose the Microsoft account you want to use in the pop-up window, or sign in if prompted.
Settings
- Go to your Rise 360 or Frontline dashboard.
- Click Settings in the left sidebar menu, then select Integrations.
- Click the Connect button for Google Drive.
- Choose the Microsoft account you want to use in the pop-up window, or sign in if prompted.
You'll know you're connected when a green "Connected" label with a checkmark appears next to OneDrive on the Integrations page. To disconnect at any time, click the three-dot menu, then click Disconnect.
Import a File from OneDrive
Here’s how to use existing files from your OneDrive as source content for a training:
- Click the OneDrive tile or button in your dashboard.
- Choose the file or files you want to import in the file picker window, then click Select in the lower-right corner.
- To select multiple files, hold Cmd (Mac) or Ctrl (Windows) while clicking. Hold Shift to select a range.
- The attached files are listed below the source content selection panel, with a blue checkmark and a OneDrive icon for easy identification.
- To delete source content, click the trash icon next to the item you want deleted.
Troubleshoot OneDrive Imports
Most imports complete successfully, but if you encounter a problem, check for these potential issues:
- Your connection doesn't complete, or you see a permissions error. Browser ad blockers can interfere with the connection pop-up. Try disabling them and connecting again. If that doesn’t resolve it, this usually means your organization's Microsoft 365 admin has restricted third-party app access at the tenant level. Ask your IT admin to allow third-party app access, then try connecting again.
- Your files aren't kept in sync. Importing a file captures a snapshot of its content at that moment. If you update the source file in OneDrive afterward, you'll need to import it again to get the latest version. Existing source content won't update automatically.
- Only your selected files are accessed. When you import from OneDrive, Articulate accesses only the specific files you select in the picker, not your entire drive.
FAQs
Can I connect other file storage providers, like Notion or Box?
Not yet, but we're working to enable additional sources. If there's a specific provider you need, let us know; your feedback helps shape what comes next.
Does Articulate keep a copy of my OneDrive files?
Yes. When you import a file, we copy it to Articulate's secure storage so it can be used as source content. Your original remains in OneDrive exactly as it was. We don’t move, modify, or take ownership of the file. We access only the specific files you select.
The copy in Articulate is encrypted and follows the same retention rules as the rest of your course content. Disconnecting OneDrive doesn't remove files you've already imported, so to remove a copy, delete the source content from your course or kit.
Can I import an entire OneDrive folder at once?
Not currently. Import works on individual files you select through the picker. If a bulk or folder-level import would help your workflow, let us know so we can keep your input in mind.
My import failed, but the error message doesn't explain why.
We're actively working to improve error messaging. If you encounter a failure you can't interpret, reach out to us, noting the file type and approximate size. We can help you figure out what happened.
Why does the file picker look and behave differently from Google Drive's?
The file picker looks and behaves differently from Google Drive’s because it's Microsoft's own file browser, surfaced within Articulate.
