Rise 360: How to Use Continue Blocks

Article Last Updated Feb 13, 2026

This article applies to:

Want to progressively reveal content or require learners to complete an interaction before moving on in your Rise 360 course? Try a continue block. Insert it where you want navigation to pause, then choose how the learner interacts with it to continue progress.

Here’s how they work.

  1. Insert a Continue Block
  2. Choose a Behavior and Modify Button Text
  3. Modify Block Settings
  4. Accessibility

Insert a Continue Block

  1. Open a Rise 360 course, then edit an existing lesson or create a new one.
  2. Click All Blocks in the blocks shortcut bar or the insert block icon that appears when you mouse over a boundary between blocks.
  3. From the sidebar that appears, select the Divider category from the block library, then click Continue in the panel.

Choose a Behavior and Modify Button Text

From an existing continue block, click the Content icon.

  1. Select a Completion Type option to specify how you want the continue block to behave for your learners. Choose how learners interact with the button:
    1. None: Click the button to continue, no required actions.
    2. Complete Block Directly Above: Complete the interaction that appears immediately before the continue block.
    3. Complete All Blocks Above: Complete all interactions above the continue block to proceed. If there's another continue block earlier in your content, only the interactions between the continue blocks need to be completed.
  2. Use the Label field to modify the button label and Hint text (if applicable).
  3. Close the panel to continue.

You can use continue blocks to require learners to complete the following blocks:

  • Carousel
  • Checkbox list
  • Audio (disable forward seeking so that learners can't scrub through the audio)
  • Video (disable forward seeking so that learners can't scrub through the video)
  • Accordion
  • Tab
  • Labeled graphics
  • Process
  • Sorting activity
  • Flashcard
  • Storyline
  • Knowledge check
  • Scenario blocks

Note: While button blocks and attachment blocks are interactive, you can’t require learners to click them.

Modify Block Settings

Continue blocks use your theme color by default, but you can change them in settings by following these steps.

  1. Click the Format icon in the left-hand design toolbar to access button color formatting.
  2. Enter a hex code or choose a color manually and click Done to apply.
  3. Click Reset to switch back to the theme color. To reapply your previously selected custom color, open the color window and click Reset.

When you select a custom color, text contrast options display. Text contrast defaults to auto to maintain an accessibility-conformant 4.5:1 ratio, but you can also select light or dark options. Note that light and dark contrast options may not be accessible.

You can also change the button width and modify the corner radius.

Customize block settings to modify how the block itself displays.

Accessibility

Continue blocks are fully accessible. However, the font size of the button text can’t be customized, so you should verify that the contrast conforms to accessibility guidelines with the white text on the button at the default size. Additionally, conduct testing with keyboard navigation and screen readers to ensure an accessible experience for all your learners.
