Articulate 360 AI and Frontline: Using Nova for Advanced Training Creation
Article Last Updated Sep 10, 2026
This article applies to:
Tackle complex training creation workflows with Nova, an AI agent that powers advanced capabilities across Articulate 360. Read on to learn more.
Understand Nova
Unlike most AI tools, which are designed for general-purpose work, Nova is an AI agent grounded in learning science and instructional design principles. Nova helps you create training that sticks.
Nova isn’t a separate product or a new place to work. It’s built right into Frontline and Articulate 360 AI, wherever you already create. That makes it easy to manage complex training-creation workflows, including:
- Generating avatar videos
- Translating training into 80+ languages
- Building a complete training kit (Frontline only)
Nova-powered workflows run on credits. You’ll know a feature is Nova before you take action by looking for the Nova icon, a four-pointed star. Credits fuel Nova, and every Nova-powered workflow draws from a credit balance tied to your subscription.
Where you get credits depends on your subscription. Most include an initial allotment, and your organization can purchase additional credits as usage grows.
For the full picture on how credits work, including rates, management, and purchasing, see our Understanding Credits user guide.
Nova features and credit usage depend on which product you’re using, Articulate 360 AI or Frontline.
Articulate 360 AI
In Articulate 360 AI, Nova powers two capabilities: AI Avatars and Multi-format Translation. Everything else is part of your subscription and doesn't consume credits, including the new training formats and existing AI-powered features.
Whether Articulate 360 AI uses credits when translating content depends on what you're translating and your subscription. Learn about how access to and billing for Articulate Localization have evolved.
If you're translating a Rise 360 or Storyline course and you have a paid, course-based localization plan, you'll draw from your existing localization credits. If you don’t have a paid, course-based localization plan, you'll use the same shared credit pool that you would for generating AI Avatars.
If you're translating a new format, you'll always draw from the unified credit pool, even if you have a paid, course-based localization plan. Legacy localization credits don't apply to new formats.
Frontline
In Frontline, Nova is the core of how you create content. Complex Nova workflows—like generating a kit or presenter-style video, or translating content—consume credits. Other AI-powered features for creating and refining training content are included with your subscription.
Credit use varies by workflow and output. Credits are drawn from a single shared pool.
Use Nova-powered Features
Here's a closer look at each Nova-powered capability and its function across products.
AI Avatars
Use Nova to generate a presenter-style video featuring a custom character delivering your script, without recording anything yourself. Check out our user guide on AI Avatars for step-by-step instructions.
In Articulate 360 AI, the AI Avatars feature is available in courses. In Frontline, it’s available in a quick reference.
Kit and Artifact Generation
Use Nova to generate a complete kit—a training package built around a single goal and comprising multiple artifacts. Artifact formats include guides, training decks, interactive videos, quick references, and scenarios, and are generated based on training needs.
Nova guides you from outline to complete artifact drafts, and you stay in control to review, edit, and approve. Learn more about generating kits and artifacts.
Note: Generating complete multi-format kits and artifacts is only available in Frontline. (Generating individual artifacts is part of an Articulate 360 AI subscription and does not consume credits.)
Translation
You can use Nova to translate your training into 80+ languages in Frontline and Articulate 360 AI. In Frontline, Nova lets you translate all assets in a kit with a single workflow. In Articulate 360 AI, Nova credits are used to translate new formats or to translate without a course-based localization plan.
