Learn About Credits
Credits are used to access advanced AI features across Articulate products and are shared among users within an organization’s subscription. If your organization has both Articulate 360 AI and Frontline, each has its own credit balance. When you use a feature that consumes credits, the credits are deducted from the appropriate balance.
Understand Credit Usage
Credits are consumed when you successfully complete actions that require them, such as generating an AI avatar video, translating content, or creating Frontline training content. Features included in an Articulate 360 AI subscription don’t consume credits. Visit the Articulate 360 AI information page to learn more.
In Articulate 360 AI, you can identify actions that use credits by looking for the Nova icon, a four-pointed star.![]()
In both Articulate 360 AI and Frontline, you’ll see in-product messages if your organization’s credits are low or have run out. If credits are low, you can continue using credit-consuming features while credits are available. If your organization runs out of credits, features that consume credits won’t be available until more credits are added.
Review Credit Rates
Credit usage rates depend on the subscription and feature. The tables below show which features in each subscription type use credits, how they’re measured, and their credit rates.
Note: Credit rates and the features that use credits may change as new AI capabilities become available. This article reflects the latest credit-consuming features and rates.
Articulate 360 AI
The following advanced AI features consume credits in an Articulate 360 AI subscription:
|
Feature |
Example use case |
Measured by |
Credit rate |
|
AI Avatars |
Turn a compliance script into a presenter-style video. |
Per minute of generated video |
1,000 credits per minute |
|
Multi-format Translation |
Translate training into 80+ languages. |
Per source character per target language Translation credits are calculated by translation volume: the number of characters in the source language multiplied by the number of target languages. |
2 credits per source character per target language |
Generating courses, training decks, guides, interactive videos, and scenarios doesn’t consume credits when you have an Articulate 360 AI subscription.
Note: If your organization has a paid, course-based Localization plan, you’ll continue to use it to localize Rise 360 and Storyline 360 courses as established in your plan terms. Translating new formats, such as training decks, interactive videos, and guides, uses credits. Organizations without a paid, course-based Localization plan use credits to translate all supported training formats.
Frontline
Frontline includes AI capabilities for creating and refining training content. Complex Nova workflows use credits, while other AI-powered features are included with your subscription. Credit use varies by workflow and output, as outlined below:
|
Feature |
Example use case |
Measured by |
Credit rate |
|
Kit | Create a connected set of training assets from a sales playbook. | Per kit and generated artifact | 3,000 credits when the kit is created, whether or not you generate artifacts from it, plus the applicable credit rate per generated artifact |
|
Training Deck | Turn onboarding documentation into a facilitator-led presentation. | Per generated training deck | 2,000 credits |
|
Guide | Turn product documentation into a how-to guide. | Per generated guide | 1,500 credits |
|
Interactive Video | Turn a product demo into an interactive learning experience. | Per generated interactive video | 3,000 credits |
|
Scenario | Build a customer service practice scenario from a prompt. | Per generated scenario | 1,000 credits |
|
Quick Reference | Summarize a process into must-know information. | Per generated quick reference | 2,000 credits |
|
AI Avatars | Turn a compliance script into a presenter-style video. | Per minute of generated video | 1,000 credits per minute |
|
Multi-format Translation | Translate training into 80+ languages. |
Per source character per target language Translation credits are calculated by translation volume: the number of characters in the source language multiplied by the number of target languages. | 2 credits per source character per target language |
Keep in mind:
- A kit consumes 3,000 credits, plus the applicable rate for each generated artifact. For example, a kit with one training deck, one guide, and one scenario uses 7,500 credits total: 3,000 for the kit + 2,000 for the training deck + 1,500 for the guide + 1,000 for the scenario. Note: Creating a new artifact from an existing kit uses credits at the applicable artifact rate.
- Translating that kit consumes additional credits. The rate is based on the amount of content translated (measured by source characters) and the number of target languages.
Manage Credits
Admins can manage their organization’s credits from the Credits page in Account Management. They can:
- View the remaining credit balance.
- Export credit usage history as a CSV.
- Contact Sales to purchase additional credits.

Advanced spend controls for groups are coming soon.
Note: Organizations with both Articulate 360 AI and Frontline have separate credit balances for each. Credits aren’t shared between the two balances, but admins can manage both balances in Account Management.
Purchase More Credits
If your organization needs additional credits, admins can use the Sales option on the Credits page or contact our Sales team directly to learn about available credit packages.
FAQs
How many credits do I need?
The number of credits you need depends on the features you use and the amount of content you generate or translate. Each feature measures credits differently. For example, AI avatars are measured by the minute of generated video, while multi-format translation is measured by translation size and volume: the number of characters in the source language multiplied by the number of target languages. Review the credit rates in this article to learn how each feature is measured. If you need help estimating your organization’s credit needs, contact our Sales team.
How can I make my credits go further?
Learn how to maximize your credits in the Get More Value From Your Credits user guide.
Do unused credits roll over?
No. Credits expire at the end of your subscription term.
What if I experience an issue with a credit-consuming action or its output?
Credits are consumed only when the action completes successfully, so failed actions don’t consume credits. A result that does not meet expectations is not considered a failed action. However, if the output seems incorrect or you have other questions, contact our Support team.
Do edits or duplicates consume credits?
Editing or duplicating existing content doesn’t consume credits unless you regenerate content in a credit-consuming workflow.
Are Articulate 360 AI and Frontline credits shared?
No. Organizations with both Articulate 360 AI and Frontline have separate credit balances for each. Credits aren’t shared between the two balances.
Does publishing translated content use credits?
Multi-format translation uses credits to translate new content. Publishing doesn’t use credits unless you’re publishing a course that was translated for free before September 10, 2026. In that case, the course uses credits the first time you publish it because the translation wasn’t previously billed. Once you publish the course, you can republish it without using additional credits.
I have a paid Localization plan. Do I need credits?
If your organization has a paid Localization plan, you’ll use the existing plan to localize Rise 360 and Storyline 360 courses until your subscription term ends. Multi-format translation uses credits to translate other content formats, such as guides, training decks, scenarios, and interactive videos.
